About Association  

At the end of 2010, the EU-China Friendship Association (hereinafter referred to as Association) was established in Brussels as an independent organization, in order to promote EU-China relations at all levels. It consists of the members of the EU-China Friendship Group in the European Parliament, and the representatives of private organizations, businesses, academic institutions, and other outstanding personnel from other sectors. The EU-China Friendship Group in the European Parliament focuses on promoting EU-China relations in the political aspects, while the EU-China Friendship Association, pays more attention to the EU-China pragmatic cooperation in the non-political fields such as culture, business, academic, tourism, agriculture, etc. The Association and the Friendship Group complement each other in fostering the EU-China friendship.

Since its establishment, the EU-China Friendship Association has played an active role in promoting EU-China relations. Every year, the Association receives nearly 20 Chinese missions (both governmental and non-governmental) in European Union and organizes a variety of events. 

Entrusted by CCTV English Channel, member companies of the Association undertook to organize in European Union, the film premiere of « Crossover, China-EU », a series of 40 video portraits for the 40th anniversary of Sino-European diplomatic relation. The Vice-Prime Minister of China: Liu Yandong and Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth & Sport Tibor Navracsics attended the event and delivered the speech on behalf of two sides. Princess Marie-Esméralda of Belgium, President of association: Derek Vaughan, Chairman of EU-China Friendship Group: Nirj Deva, China’s Ambassador of Mission to EU: Yang Yanyi, China's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium: Qu Xin, witnessed this important moment, with over 151 attendants including some actors from the film.

    So far, the EU-China Friendship Association has established a partnership with a number of provincial governmental and non-governmental institutions. The Association will continue to, in the future, promote friendly relations and enhance mutual understanding between the EU and China.
